Chapter 1 The Kidnap

A fresh start, a new beginning of a new day, a morning so simple and quiet only the sound of a passing by bird could disturb it. Valerie opened up her honey brown eyes that morning and took a good look around her, she had a feeling that this day unlike other days would be just perfect.

She quickly jumped out of bed in a ridiculous manner and rushed to the bathroom. She was about 10 years old at the time, her mom and dad out placed a couple of steps for her in front of the sink so she could reach up there. She took a bath, brushed her teeth and armed with a sweet smile she was ready to face the world. “Daddy daddy”, she said. “Can I go to the zoo with Sarah today?” she asked politely.

“Sure you can sweetie, I’ve talked to Sarah’s mom and she said she’d love to take you two to the zoo after school.”

They got into the car and drove to school. At school, everyone knew Valerie as the sweet quiet kid in class but not today, something was different, she was happy than ever before. The smile on her face resembled a piece of gum stuck to someone’s hair. She was waiting patiently for school to end, and when it did, Sarah’s mom came and took them both to the zoo.

It was her first time to a zoo, a new experience you could say, lots of animals in different shapes and sizes. She began to wander by herself and look at those amazing creatures. A while later she realized that she was drifted away from Sarah and Sarah’s mom. She was all alone in a zoo lost with no clue what to do.

She tried looking for them but couldn’t find none of them. Suddenly out of nowhere a tall man wearing sun glasses and a casual looking hat appeared asking her what’s wrong and where are her mom and dad. She told him what happened and how she got lost. The man put his hand on her shoulder and said, “It’s okay honey, I’ll help you find them”. So they started walking together…

Chapter 2 You Are Not Alone

Valerie could feel the heat generated by the sun rays on her arms, instantly she knew it was dawn even before she opened her eyes. She wasn’t on her soft bed, obviously, her back ached from sleeping on the hard ground. Valerie tried to move but she couldn’t feel her limbs.

She tried hard to recall what she did yesterday which drained all her energy. She remembered she was lost in the zoo, and she met a mysterious man. What was his name again? No, wait, he didn’t even introduce himself. But he seemed like a nice person. He bought her ice-cream and then they went to the fun fare which wasn’t far from the zoo. And then…… and everything just went blank after that. She couldn’t remember how she ended up crashing in this place.

While she was fighting hard to get her eyes wide open, she heard screaming coming from above. Every nerve in her body was on full alert and her gut told her that she had to get out of this place. But she couldn’t move! Could it be the narcotic effect? She wasn’t sure. Whining doesn’t help. Since she couldn’t do anything with her body, she laid all her attention to the surrounding, giving in the small details happening around her. The air was rusty. She could feel the heat from the sun, and she could clearly hear the echo of someone screaming coming from the upper floor, this place is definitely big and old.

Something beside her moved. No, wait… Someone’s sobbing! She’s not alone! She could finally open her eyes but the rays were killing her sights. She narrowed her eyes and sought for the direction where the sob came from. It was a girl with long blonde hair, she was petite, curling herself in a corner and she was shaking very badly. Something about the blonde girl looked familiar. It was the Mickey Mouse bag! That was Sarah!

“Ss-sa-rah…” Valerie called out weakly. Sarah uncurled herself and turned to where the voices came from. Valerie cleared her throat and tried calling out for Sarah again. “Valerie!” Sarah was thrilled. She attempted to climb over for Valerie but her leg was chained. Poor Sarah couldn’t help but cried louder. Valerie tried to calm her down but it was too late.

They heard footsteps coming down from the stairs. They were trapped in a basement and there was no chance of escaping. It was the mysterious man! “Let me out! Please!” Sarah cried. The mysterious man did not make a sound but only smiled. His smile was so wide and it was too wicked and disturbing to stare at. Valerie couldn’t see his face as he was still wearing his sunglasses.

He grabbed Sarah by her long blonde hair by only one hand while she was struggling so hard to shrug off from his grab. He unlocked the chain from Sarah’s leg and cuffed it on Valerie’s. He dragged Sarah up all the way from the basement up the stairs despite her cries and protest.

“NO! SARAH! PLEASE DON’T TAKE HER AWAY! PLEASE! I BEG YOU!” Valerie who could feel her limbs again shouted. No matter how hard she yelled, there weren’t any response but the sound of the closing cellar door…

Chapter 3 The Red Door

Valerie was still in her shock state. She couldn’t think, her brain was dead. She was just lying on the hard ground and stared blankly at the ceiling. Lights gone and the day has ended, a voice in her head told her that she needs to stay strong to save Sarah. She sprang up immediately and started scavenging things she could use to free herself from the cuff. While she was searching, something shiny caught her eyes. It was a key!

That mysterious man must have left it here when he unlocked the chain from Sarah’s leg. Valerie was on her legs at once after freeing herself from the cuff. Tip toeing, she walked up the stairs and when she was out of the basement, her mouth dropped wide open.

She was standing right in front of a long passage with hundreds of doors! Valerie had no clue which to start with. She walked down to the passage and stop at the fifth door on her left. The door was not locked, she turned the door knob and then entered the room. So this is the toy room, Valerie thought.

She stepped out from the toy room and then proceeded to the next door. She was about to scream when she opened the door, but Valerie swallowed her fear down her spine instead. She saw a girl’s limbs were tied to the corners of the bed, and the white sheet was covered with blood. What took her life was the knife which was plunged into her abdomen caused her from losing too much blood. She stomped off from the room immediately and ran until she reached a door which was painted red. Valerie heard screams coming within the room with the door painted red.

Sarah was butchered with an electrical chain saw and the blood was splashing everywhere in the room. Her limbs were all chopped off. The room was flooded with Sarah’s blood. Valerie who stood outside the room peeping through the keyhole was completely helpless. The mysterious man smiled slyly, satisfied with his blueprint. He chewed on her white thigh which was now covering with bloody red blood.

Valerie’s stomach was churning and she was about to puke, she couldn’t hold her stare any longer. She didn’t want to be victimized by that psychotic, cannibalistic man, she didn’t want to be killed and be eaten. She spun and race through the hallway and there… She finally saw the hope of getting out alive.

Chapter 4 The Black Mermaids

After her long run, she saw a glimpse of light at the end of the hallway, she realized that this is the escape from this hell, she couldn’t do anything but to run with her full speed to save herself. Unfortunately, she reached the edge and all she saw was just the sky and the blue ocean. She was taken to an unknown castle in the middle of the vast ocean. Valerie gathered her courage and decided to jump. Yes, jumping would be the best solution for now. Splash! As soon as she hit the water, she realized how black and cold the water was. Without wasting any more time, she swam her heart away from this castle.
She swam until her legs got numb. Night arrives. The weather is getting colder as darkness engulfed her sight. Suddenly, there was something moving around her in the black vicious water. Valerie felt it, fear was creeping to her heart, and some blobs were forming on the top of the water. The noise started to get louder. This eerie humming sounded like a mix of the blowing wind and a girl’s scream.


The black mermaids were summoned by the strange man and they were ordered to capture Valerie back to the castle, the mermaids were trying to drown her by pulling her legs down. She was already tired and about to give up yet she was still struggling and fighting for survival. But to no avail, she failed to do so, and found herself drowning into the black ocean with no more strength for resistance. Slowly, she blacked out.


As Valerie opened her eyes, she woke up in the same dark place in the castle. She found herself chained up and her body was bruised everywhere, her legs were wounded badly because of the number of attempts that the mermaids tried to drag her down.


The strange man entered the cell, staring at her with his cold eyes, and said, “You’re mine now and your soul will be mine after I kill you, sweet girl.” She shouted, “No nooo! Leave me alone and let me go!” Before she finished, he left, now she lost her all hopes to stay alive.


Nevertheless, the girl had to fill her stomach to stay alive so that she has a right of mind to come up with a plan to kill the man or escape. Valerie looked around her searching for food. At this stage, Valerie would even eat any body parts if there were some. By chance, she found Sarah’s lunch box in the corner, she grabbed it hastily and gobbled up her food. While she was eating, she thought of Sarah and started sobbing that she lost her best friend. She fell asleep instantly after saying her prayers to god.

Chapter 5 Look Out Your Window

“Valerie, oh my sweet Valerie.” Valerie got her conscious back and began to open her eyes slowly. She recognized the voice. It was her mother’s. She was very shocked and there, her parents was standing right in front of her, few steps away, smiling at her. Valerie quickly ran into her parents with tears on her face and dying to hug them as close as possible. Valerie felt so happy and relieved. “I will be a good girl Mama.” She said. Valerie closed her eyes while hugging her mother and all of a sudden, the surrounding started to turn dark and cold as the atmosphere now was covered with fog.


She realized that something was wrong. Her heart was pumping fast and her body started to shake because of the chilly weather. Valerie started falling backwards and she was unable to move at all. She saw her mother was changing into a hideous child with blood covering all over her body, and it looked like Sarah. The body of the hideous child had been sliced apart, with the head, hands, legs and ears scattered all around. Valerie screamed her lungs out and she crawled weakly towards her father. Her father pushed her away aggressively and stared at her mischievously. The person was no longer her father as he slowly changed into the person who butchered Sarah.


The man walked slowly towards Valerie. As he approached her, he choked her neck with both of his hands and lifted her up easily as if she was as light as a feather. Valerie felt weak, she couldn’t even open her eyes and hence allowing the darkness to engulf her. The stranger took a knife and stabbed merciless through poor Valerie’s soft neck! Valerie was coughing so severely that the floor was covered with all her blood.


”Mamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”  Her eyes sprang wide opened and immediately she was wide awake. It was a nightmare. Her eyes were filled with tears as she was looking nervously around her. She was still stuck in the same cold and dark cell. She crawled weakly to the corner and prayed sincerely. ”Dear God, I just wanted to see my mama and papa, I’ve missed them very much.”


It was raining cats and dogs when it was close to dawn. The thunderstorm terrified Valerie from escaping. She tried to reach out to the rain from the window to drink as much water as she could. Even though she did not had her all-time favourite pancake from her Mama, at least she recharged herself after having some water which could help her to survive for another day.


“Vale…”,”Valer….”Valerie”,”Valerieeeeeee”. Her eyes were closed, but she could hear clearly. She heard a voice coming from her front. She tried to call out but she made a croak instead. “Oh! My dear child. It’s okay Valerie, Mama’s here”. She hugged Valerie tightly.


Her parents and the cops who were looking for her found her in the nick of time. Her father carried Valerie in his arms and walked towards the car. Valerie couldn’t say a word and she could barely open her eyes, but she was relieved that the misery had ended and she could finally fall asleep peacefully.  
She woke up surprised that she was home on her own bed. Her mother prepared her meal on bed. She chewed on her favourite pancake slowly while enjoying the view outside of her window. She missed looking at the beautiful flowers blossomed in the park opposite to her house. On her feet, she walked to the window with her beloved earl grey tea. While she was sipping her hot tea from the cup and enjoying this beautiful scenery, there was two children with a man walking towards to her house.


The children were waving their hands at Valerie and she was about to wave back. When she took a closer look at them, she dropped her cup of tea and the cup was smashed into pieces. Even though her feet were cut by the broken pieces, she couldn’t feel the pain as her full attention was on the two kids and the man.


The longer she held her stares the wider her eyes got, her heart was racing and she could feel that her body started shaking. It was the two hideous children who were covered with red blood and with no limbs as she witness in her nightmare at the dreadful place. And the man… it was the man in the zoo with sunglasses smiling at her from the park.
